Argentina backs Gianni Infantino despite CONMEBOL concerns
Argentina have publicly backed FIFA president Gianni Infantino despite growing tensions between FIFA and CONMEBOL over his leadership. According to GOAL, the Argentine Football Association praised Infantino’s decade-long administration and expressed its desire to continue working under his leadership.
The endorsement came hours after CONMEBOL criticised FIFA over what it called repeated unilateral decisions and hinted it could reconsider supporting Infantino at the 2027 presidential election.
Argentina also welcomed FIFA’s decision to abandon the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise project and praised Infantino for acknowledging mistakes and apologising to member associations.
