Kano gov releases N300m to Hisbah for mass wedding, each bride gets N200,000
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has released N300 million to the state’s Hisbah Board to fund a mass wedding initiative, with each bride set to receive N200,000 as dowry support and start-up capital paid directly into personal bank accounts for transparency.
Hisbah Board Chairman Aminu Daurawa announced the programme during a pre-marital orientation at Government House’s Coronation Hall on Thursday, as reported by Peoples Gazette. Beyond the cash, the Kano government will provide household furniture to couples, while each groom receives ten yards of fabric, a cap, shoes and food items.
“The intervention is designed to ease the financial burden on couples at the beginning of married life and promote stable families,” Daurawa said, adding that Hisbah discourages divorce and will offer mediation for marital disputes.
