Fayose: Darkness after 7pm driving more childbirths in Nigeria
Newly inaugurated Rural Electrification Agency board chairman, Ayodele Fayose, has linked the absence of electricity in rural communities to early bedtimes and rising birth rates.
According to Punch Newspapers, in a video shared by ARISE News, Fayose said residents without electricity have limited recreational options after 7pm, leading many to turn to their spouses instead.
He argued that expanding rural electrification would promote nightlife and alternative recreation. Fayose was sworn in alongside other REA board members by Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, with Abba Aliyu installed as the agency’s Managing Director.
