Trump warns FIFA against replacing under-fire president Gianni Infantino
US President Donald Trump has publicly backed FIFA president Gianni Infantino as pressure mounts on the Swiss-Italian administrator to resign. According to GiveMeSport, Trump warned that FIFA would be making a “terrible mistake” by considering Infantino’s replacement.
Trump praised Infantino’s leadership of the 2026 World Cup, claiming the tournament was the most successful in history and would not be as profitable without him. Infantino faces growing scrutiny after UEFA, the AFC and CONCACAF reportedly called for new FIFA leadership. He has also faced criticism over the failed Football Forward Enterprise proposal and other allegations, which he has strongly denied.
