Too old to walk, so they shot him: Bandits kill elder after abducting his family in Sokoto
Bandits have killed two people and abducted 11 others in separate overnight and daytime attacks on Taloka and Huda communities in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, with one elderly victim shot dead after telling his abductors he was too old to continue walking with them.
As reported by Daily Trust, dozens of bandits on approximately 20 motorcycles stormed Taloka at 12:30 am Tuesday, going house to house — abducting eight residents including Alhaji Yusuf, his daughter and daughter-in-law before killing him when he could no longer keep pace. His nephew Abdullahi Dan Almajiri was also killed.
In a separate attack on Huda, five farmers were abducted from their fields at 9:30 am Monday, with one later released. Residents said it was the community’s 11th bandit attack.
In a separate development, Sokoto Police rescued a 10-year-old boy found alive inside a sack on a motorcycle and arrested two suspected kidnappers in Gwadabawa and Tangaza LGAs.
