Fans demand NFF boss’ resignation over Super Falcons World Cup miss
Calls for the resignation of Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau have grown louder following the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
According to Premium Times, Thursday’s 2-1 play-off defeat to South Africa in Morocco ended Nigeria’s record of qualifying for every Women’s World Cup since 1991. Gusau defended the federation’s preparations, citing friendlies against Cameroon, but critics on social media have demanded he step down.
Former captain Segun Odegbami plans to challenge the NFF’s electoral process in court ahead of September’s elective congress.
