Re-elected Adeleke endorses Tinubu for 2027, calls President ‘a son of Osun State’
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a son of the state.
Adeleke stated this during a press conference on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him the winner of the August 15 governorship election, commending Tinubu for what he described as his support for a free and fair election. “Mr. President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” he said, according to The Punch.
The governor had previously endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party before defecting to the Accord Party ahead of the Osun governorship election. Tinubu, for his part, called Adeleke to offer personal congratulations — a gesture the governor publicly acknowledged. “I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr. President. Mr. President has called me and congratulated me. I thank you, Mr. President, for making sure democracy lives on,” Adeleke added.
President Tinubu described Adeleke’s re-election as proof that democracy would continue to thrive in Nigeria, saying the result reflected the confidence the people of Osun had in the governor. Adeleke extended an olive branch to his defeated opponents, declaring: “In this race, there is no victor, no vanquished.”
