APC chairman dies at reconciliation meeting
The All Progressives Congress suffered a shocking loss in Kogi State on Friday when Ijumu Local Government Area party chairman Oyewole Mayowa Solomon collapsed and died during a reconciliation meeting at Iyara Town Hall, throwing participants into panic and casting a shadow over ongoing efforts to unite the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to The Sun, Solomon, who was actively participating in the meeting convened by former LGA chairman Funsho Olumoko to promote party unity, was rushed to a hospital in Kabba where he was pronounced dead.
The death comes barely two weeks after APC stakeholders in Ijumu publicly endorsed President Tinubu and Kogi Governor Ahmed Ododo for second terms. No official statement had been issued at press time.
