VIDEO: US pastor introduces second wife to congregation, declares monogamy unbiblical
A United States-based pastor, Israel Ford, has announced his marriage to a second wife, arguing that the belief that men should have only one wife is unbiblical.
According to The Punch, Ford, of LifeWorks Church in Ohio, made the announcement Sunday through a Facebook post accompanied by a church video.
“I would like to introduce to the world, my second wife, Shakayla Ford!!!” he wrote.
Ford identified Lydia Ford as his first wife and challenged conventional Christian teachings on marriage.
“As a nation we have been taught that a man should have one wife only. This is unbiblical,” he declared.
The pastor urged followers to watch his forthcoming sermon explaining his position.
“I have no plans to choose pleasing man over what God has revealed,” he stated.
Ford acknowledged that his decision might attract criticism and cause some followers to distance themselves.
He nevertheless maintained that his position was based on his understanding of scripture.
