Nigerian military kills 36 terrorists in precision air strikes across Borno
The Nigerian military’s air component under Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised approximately 36 suspected terrorists in a series of precision strikes across Borno State conducted between the night of August 21 and early hours of August 22, 2026.
As confirmed in a statement by Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni, as reported by PM News, the strikes followed intelligence reports and surveillance missions targeting terrorist concentrations in Monguno and Biu Local Government Areas.
In the Monguno operations, 16 terrorists were neutralised in initial strikes before a further group of 10 attempting to regroup was engaged. A separate strike in Buratai, Biu LGA, neutralised approximately 10 additional fighters.
The military said the operations demonstrated growing ISR capabilities and formed part of a broader campaign to degrade terrorist command structures, restrict freedom of movement and create safer conditions for North-East communities.
