Iran may have little to lose as US intensifies economic squeeze
Iran may have little to lose as the United States intensifies efforts to squeeze its economy through sweeping new sanctions targeting vital revenue channels.
According to The New York Times, Tehran says it has prepared for renewed economic pressure, while experts warn Washington’s campaign could hurt ordinary Iranians more than the government and potentially provoke wider regional escalation.
The Trump administration’s measures target gold, digital assets, technology, aviation and shipping, while pressuring Iran’s trading partners to cut ties.
Economists say the strategy’s success will depend heavily on whether major partners, particularly China, comply with threatened secondary sanctions imposed by Washington.
