Child narrowly escapes giant alligator’s jaws in Florida no-swim zone
A child survived an alligator attack after being grabbed while swimming in a restricted area of Weeki Wachee Preserve in Spring Hill, Florida, according to Daily Mirror.
The child sustained puncture wounds to the leg and arm from the 12-foot creature but was released from hospital hours later. The victim and several others were stranded on a sandbar before being rescued and taken to Bayonet Point Hospital. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating, as the group had entered a “no swim” zone. Sanctuary owner Christopher Gillette warned that swimming outside designated zones remains a major risk factor for alligator encounters in the state.
