FG announces data waiver for students on educational platforms
The Federal Government has announced plans to waive data costs for millions of students accessing approved educational platforms as part of efforts to expand digital learning across Nigeria. According to Channels Television, Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, announced the initiative during the launch of the Initiative for Zero-Rated Access to Educational Platforms and Content in Nigeria.
Alausa said the programme would ensure that the cost of internet connectivity does not prevent students, particularly those from low-income households, from accessing quality education.
He also announced plans for regulated internet access for children below 16 as part of measures to protect young Nigerians from online threats. The initiative is being implemented under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative.
