No plans to run for president right now, says Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he has no plans to run for president in 2028, despite speculation he could succeed Donald Trump, according to The Hill.
Speaking in an interview with Colombian news station RCN, Rubio said, “I’m not a candidate for anything right now,” adding that he is focused on his current role.
A source told NBC News that Rubio is enjoying his position as secretary of state and has no intention of running in 2028, though he might consider a bid in 2032 or 2036. Rubio and Vice President JD Vance are both viewed as potential contenders to carry forward Trump’s political legacy.
