Cunha, Fernandes and Sesko shine as Man Utd cruise past Sabah on UCL return
Manchester United marked their return to the Champions League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Sabah FC at Old Trafford on Thursday night, according to Sky Sports. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, converting Patrick Dorgu’s cross at the near post after the Azerbaijani visitors had made a lively start.
Sabah missed a major chance to equalise when Joy-Lance Mickels headed wide from close range, and United punished them before the interval. Bruno Fernandes doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute after combining with Youri Tielemans, before Benjamin Sesko made it 3-0 shortly before half-time after being released by Bryan Mbeumo.
Michael Carrick made changes after the break, but United continued to dominate, with Lisandro Martinez completing the scoring in the 68th minute following an impressive backheel from Joshua Zirkzee. The result gives United a strong start to their Champions League campaign and a confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.
