INEC urges court to dismiss Atiku’s suit over Tinubu’s certificate
The Independent National Electoral Commission has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s suit alleging that President Bola Tinubu submitted a forged certificate to qualify for the 2023 presidential election.
According to Vanguard, INEC described the case as an abuse of judicial process and argued that Atiku lacked the legal standing to institute it. The commission said it merely receives documents submitted by candidates and does not originate or authenticate their credentials.
Atiku, however, alleged that Tinubu submitted a forged NYSC discharge certificate bearing the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle” to INEC.
