Electricity: Nigerians beg me to slowdown, freezers now run nonstop – Power Minister

The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, on Wednesday said some Nigerians had asked him to “slow down” efforts to improve electricity supply because their freezers were now working continuously. Tegbe made the disclosure at the commissioning of a 3-megawatt solar hybrid power project at Yakubu Gowon University, formerly the University of Abuja.

According to PM News, the minister said areas that previously suffered prolonged power outages were now receiving significantly longer hours of electricity. He noted that the improvement had changed the experience of consumers who had become accustomed to irregular electricity supply.

Tegbe’s remarks came as the Federal Government continues to promote alternative energy sources, including solar hybrid projects, as part of efforts to improve electricity access and reliability across the country.
