Declan Rice escapes red card after appearing to kick out at Brighton player
Declan Rice avoided a red card during Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton after appearing to kick out at Malick Yalcouye in the closing moments. According to the Daily Mirror, Rice was shown a yellow card for unsporting conduct after the off-the-ball incident shortly before the final whistle. The midfielder appeared to make contact with the Brighton player after the pair had been involved in a tussle.
The incident drew comparisons with Phil Foden’s red card in the Manchester derby last weekend. Had Rice been dismissed, he could have received a three-match suspension covering Arsenal’s fixtures against Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Everton. Instead, he remains available for selection.
