‘Over 200 died over unpaid entitlements’ — Soludo govt fires fresh salvo at Obi

The Anambra State Government has accused former Governor Peter Obi of neglecting Water Corporation workers, alleging that more than 200 staff died over unpaid entitlements during his administration.

The allegation was contained in a statement by the Anambra New Media Office, the official communication platform of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, amid renewed political exchanges with Obi, according to PM News

The government, which described Obi as “Anambra’s Pharaoh”, questioned his claim that the state Water Corporation had become inactive, asking why funds were still allocated to the agency during his tenure.

It also alleged that money budgeted for the corporation was given to private contractors as loans.

The latest accusation comes days after the government released documents it described as evidence of debts inherited from Obi’s administration. Obi has rejected the claims, insisting he left office without unpaid salaries, pensions, gratuities or contractor liabilities.

The former governor served from 2006 to 2014.
