Mohamed Salah to rejoin Egypt squad after artificial pitch concerns

Mohamed Salah will return to the Egypt squad for the Pharaohs’ friendly against South Africa on October 4, manager Hossam Hassan has confirmed. According to GOAL, Salah will miss Egypt’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan because the match will be played on artificial turf.

Hassan said the decision was agreed with the Trabzonspor forward to reduce the risk of injury and preserve him for upcoming fixtures. The Egypt manager stressed that Salah remains an important part of his plans and confirmed that he is expected to feature against South Africa. The 34-year-old’s return will provide a boost as Egypt continue their preparations for future international commitments.
