Spain explain why Eric Garcia was sent home from international duty

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has been sent back from Spain’s international camp after suffering knee discomfort during the warm-up before the match against England. According to Barca Universal, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente confirmed that the decision was precautionary, with no significant injury detected.

De la Fuente said the defender would have remained with the squad if Spain were in a knockout-stage situation, but the risk was considered unnecessary at this stage. Garcia is therefore expected to return to Barcelona and could be available for the La Liga meeting with Getafe on October 10. Meanwhile, De la Fuente praised Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, describing him as being in excellent form and suggesting he could take on a more prominent role against Croatia.
