Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the best player of the opening eight rounds of the Turkish 1. Lig after an outstanding start to his Bursaspor career. According to PUNCH Sports Extra, beIN SPORTS selected the 29-year-old for the award after he scored 11 goals and provided two assists in eight league appearances.

Iheanacho has found the net in every league game since joining Bursaspor as a free agent this summer. His goals have helped the club record six wins and one draw, leaving them top of the table with 19 points.

His latest brace came in a 2-1 comeback victory over Batman Petrolspor, extending his scoring streak to eight matches and equalling Fernandao’s club record. His form has also earned him a recall to Nigeria’s squad for the October 6 friendly against Russia.
