FIFA rejected Nigeria’s DR Congo protest after NFF sent petition to wrong email
FIFA reportedly dismissed Nigeria’s protest against DR Congo partly because the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) sent its complaint to the wrong email address. According to Vanguard News, citing a source at the National Sports Commission, FIFA said the petition concerning DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi was sent to the FIFA General Secretary rather than the appropriate legal portal.
Nigeria had challenged Mpasi’s eligibility after DR Congo won the World Cup qualifying playoff 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. FIFA also reportedly rejected the protest because it was filed after the deadline.
