Ajax Academy graduate Elikia turns football setback into Afrobeats success
Former Ajax academy prospect Elikia Mbinga has swapped football for an emerging career in afrobeats after playing alongside future stars including Jurrien Timber, Quinten Timber, Ryan Gravenberch and Brian Brobbey. As reported by GOAL, Mbinga, 25, left professional football at 21 after making his first-team debut for PEC Zwolle.
With music having always been a passion, he built his own studio and began pursuing a career as artist ELIKIA. Three-and-a-half years later, he has accumulated more than 30 million streams and around 430,000 monthly listeners. His new single Baller is due Friday, ahead of his 11-track debut album in November.
