Trump says Zelensky “never” makes a deal, suggests Ukraine get a new president

US President Donald Trump has suggested that Ukraine should replace President Volodymyr Zelensky, blaming him for the failure to reach a peace deal with Russia, Breitbart reports.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Saturday, Trump said, “I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal,” adding that “for some reason (Zelensky) never does.”

He also said, “I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new president.”

The remarks came hours after Trump announced a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin for Russia to supply 300,000 tonnes of diesel to the global market, with more planned in November.

Zelensky criticised the deal on X, saying, “Every additional billion dollars they can earn from exports will be spent on nothing but sourcing and importing critical components and equipment to manufacture weapons.”

He added, “Russia’s choice is war.”

Meanwhile, peace talks in Miami ended earlier than expected, with Kyiv saying its team was “already on its way home”.
