Peter Obi giving Tinubu sleepless nights ahead of 2027 elections — Kwankwaso

The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has claimed that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is giving President Bola Tinubu sleepless nights ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Kwankwaso discussed the opposition party’s preparations and its efforts to mobilise voters across Nigeria.

As reported by Daily Post, Kwankwaso argued that Obi’s support in southern Nigeria, combined with his own political network in the North, would strengthen their campaign.

“Peter Obi is popular in the South, and we are mobilising our people in the North. Even the President is concerned about the person of our presidential candidate, and he has been having sleepless nights because of him.

“I believe President Tinubu also believes that he couldn’t do it himself. He has to lean towards the governors, and I think that is the situation now.

“All of them believe that we will win the election. Before now, many of them were contemplating or looking at ways and means of rigging the election.

“The Kwankwasiyya and, of course, people who believe in this country and those who are looking for a way out are supporting us. And together, we have a very formidable team,” Kwankwaso said.

His comments amount to political claims, rather than independently established facts about Tinubu’s concerns or any plans to interfere with voting. Kwankwaso did not present evidence supporting the allegations in the remarks provided.

The statements come as political parties prepare for the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027, and competing candidates seek support nationwide.
