Zelensky accuses Trump of betrayal, warns “people will die” after Starshield cut-off
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused US President Donald Trump of betraying Ukraine, warning that Kyiv is “losing” the United States.
In an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Zelensky said Trump had chosen “the wrong side” by agreeing to import Russian diesel. He said the deal would lead to more civilian deaths.
“It’s painful when President Trump chooses one side, not our side,” he said.
The US Sun reports that Zelensky also blamed Washington for cutting off the Starshield system, which helps Ukraine detect incoming drone and missile attacks. Ukraine’s military said the system no longer works on anything moving at speeds over 100mph, including Russian hypersonic missiles and Iranian-made drones.
Asked if he felt betrayed by Trump’s decisions over the last few days, Zelensky replied: “Really, yes.”
Elon Musk said he had nothing to do with the removal, adding that any limits are decided by the US military and “ultimately Potus”. Former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov said efforts are underway to restore Starlink.
Ballistic missiles struck Kyiv two nights in a row this week, with air raid sirens failing to sound in time.
