Court directs Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo to respond to suit demanding release of his NYSC records
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to respond to a lawsuit seeking the release of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) records.
According to THISDAY, Justice Salim Ibrahim issued the directive on Monday and adjourned proceedings until November 18, 2026.
The Incorporated Trustees of Pathway to Equity and Charity Foundation filed the suit, seeking documents confirming the minister’s mandatory national service.
The organisation requested mobilisation letters, posting records, allowance payments, attendance records and his discharge certificate.
It alleged that investigations showed Tunji-Ojo did not serve with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, contrary to his reported claims.
However, an NYSC letter dated August 8, 2023, reportedly confirmed that the minister was mobilised in 2006 but absconded before returning for remobilisation in 2019.
The letter stated that his discharge certificate was eventually produced in February 2023.
The court directed the minister to respond to the foundation’s objection to his application to join the proceedings.
