2027: APC campaign council denies alleged plot to assasinate Atiku
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has dismissed allegations that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is plotting to assassinate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Daily Post, the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, rejected the allegation raised by African Democratic Congress (ADC) member Timi Frank in a statement on Tuesday.
Alake declared, “We categorically reject the claim that the presidency of Nigeria or the APC Campaign Council is involved in any plot to assassinate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or any opposition figure.”
He urged security agencies to invite Frank to substantiate his claims, describing the allegation as serious.
The council also denied reports that Atiku’s security personnel had been withdrawn, insisting that he remained protected by the police and Department of State Services.
Alake maintained that Tinubu had directed security agencies to strengthen protection for political candidates nationwide.
He urged politicians to avoid unsubstantiated allegations capable of heightening tensions ahead of the elections.a
