Enzo Maresca delivers Haaland injury update ahead of Man City’s Villa trip
Erling Haaland is available for Manchester City’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa this weekend, manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed, although three team-mates remain fitness doubts. According to the Evening Standard, Haaland is ready to return after being rested during Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over AEK Athens, having scored twice in City’s 3-2 win against Ipswich Town last weekend.
“Erling is the only one 100 per cent available,” Maresca said on Thursday. Matheus Nunes, Nico O’Reilly and Mateo Kovacic are all uncertain to feature, with the manager waiting for the outcome of the team’s latest training session.
“We have a session this afternoon,” he explained. “They can be all available or not. Yesterday they were all improving, and we’ll see this afternoon.” Maresca also suggested Haaland could start alongside Phil Foden and Ryaan Cherki, saying:
“It depends a little bit on the game plan. I think they can play all together, yeah.” Antoine Semenyo remains sidelined for months with a knee injury, adding to City’s selection concerns ahead of the Villa Park encounter.
