Julian Nagelsmann open to Man Utd talks as Carrick’s future hangs in balance
Manchester United are considering Julian Nagelsmann as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick following their disappointing 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. According to the Daily Mirror, United could approach the former Bayern Munich manager if they decide to dismiss Carrick, with the German reportedly willing to listen to an offer.
The defeat extended United’s winless run to seven matches, leaving Carrick under mounting pressure after securing a permanent appointment following his successful interim spell last season. Nagelsmann, 39, has been without a club since leaving his position as Germany head coach in July.
He also has links with United’s director of global talent, Christopher Vivell, from their time at RB Leipzig. Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler is another candidate reportedly being monitored by United, while Antonio Conte has been offered to the club but is not expected to be considered. Carrick said: “It’s not about playing for me, it’s about playing for this football club,” as uncertainty grows over his future.
