British mum’s case echoes Lindsay Clancy as she admits killing her three kids
A British woman, Yasmeen Ali, 44, has admitted to killing her three young children in 2024 while experiencing “acute psychosis,” days after being discharged from a psychiatric hospital in Bristol, the New York Post reports.
Ali, a former nurse, was initially charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility after experts confirmed her mental state at the time.
She was sentenced Friday to an indefinite stay at a secure psychiatric hospital, with Judge Thomas Linden ruling the act was “almost entirely attributable to mental disorder” and offering condolences to the family over failings in local mental health services.
The case has drawn comparisons to a similar one involving a Massachusetts mother in 2023.
