Jesse Ventura calls Trump a “coward” for avoiding Vietnam war service
Former Minnesota Governor and U.S. Navy veteran Jesse Ventura has ripped into President Donald Trump, calling him a “coward” for dodging military service in Vietnam while later boasting about his military capabilities.
Speaking on political streamer Hasan Piker’s show, as reported by HuffPost, Ventura defended calling Trump a “fascist,” stating his 17-month service in Southeast Asia gave him the right to speak out. Ventura contrasted his own record with Trump’s five draft deferments.
”Here’s the part that pisses me off: I did two tours, 17 months. So did my brother. Southeast Asia. That was at the same time Donald Trump was running and hiding like the coward he is,” Ventura said. “Why didn’t he join us in the Vietnam War? I’ve heard him talk. He said he should be a general!”
When reminded of Trump’s medical deferment for bone spurs, Ventura quipped, “Well, fine and dandy, never stopped him from golf, did it?”
Ventura added that Trump lacked the courage to serve, asserting, “You can’t go into a 4,000-year-old country and bomb them into submission.”
