Man Utd chief Jason Wilcox faces sack if Carrick is dismissed, BBC reports
Manchester United technical director Jason Wilcox could lose his job if Michael Carrick is dismissed following the club’s disappointing start to the season, according to a report by GiveMeSport, citing BBC Sport.
United have struggled for consistency, recording just two wins in 12 matches across all competitions and going eight games without a victory following defeats to Como and Bournemouth. Despite growing pressure on Carrick, the club has reportedly decided to give the manager an opportunity to turn things around, starting with Saturday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea.
However, sources around the club reportedly consider Wilcox’s departure ‘inevitable’ if Carrick is eventually sacked. Three managerial changes in three seasons, following the exits of Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, would raise questions about Wilcox’s leadership.
Chief executive Omar Berrada could also face uncertainty as co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe considers a possible wider restructuring of the club’s senior leadership. United face Chelsea, Roma and Aston Villa before the November international break, with results potentially determining the futures of key figures at Old Trafford.
