Former African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina has declared his readiness to contribute to Nigeria’s development following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
According to Leadership, Adesina made the declaration on Tuesday after visiting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
“I told the President, I’m back at home, here to help and ready to help. It’s my country. I love my country, and I’m ready to help,” he said.
Adesina clarified that he was not seeking a government appointment but remained willing to serve Nigeria in any capacity.
He also commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, including petrol subsidy removal and foreign exchange harmonisation, describing them as difficult but necessary.
The former AfDB president disclosed that the bank provided approximately $7 billion in financing to Nigeria during his 10-year tenure.
He urged the government to prioritise economic transformation, growth and prosperity while ensuring that reforms deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
