Champions League sanctions: RC Lens fans banned from upcoming away trips

UEFA has banned RC Lens from selling away tickets for their next two UEFA Champions League fixtures against RB Leipzig and Liverpool. The decision follows supporter misconduct during last week’s 3–0 defeat at Club Brugge, where Lens fans lit and threw pyrotechnics at home supporters.

Lens was already on probation following pyrotechnic incidents during their Matchday 1 victory over Slavia Prague. UEFA also imposed an €80,000 fine for the “lighting and throwing of pyrotechnics as well as for acts of damage.

“As a result, Yannick Cahuzac’s side will be without traveling supporters at the Red Bull Arena on November 24 and Anfield on January 27. According to a report by Get French Football News, club executives have separately taken action over the fan behavior by opting not to sell away tickets for Friday’s regional derby against Lille at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
