Swedish wonderkid names Barcelona as dream club amid Manchester United interest
Swedish teenager Oliver Mansson has revealed his ambition to play for Barcelona amid growing interest from several European clubs, including Manchester United.
According to Barca Universal, citing SPORT, the 17-year-old IFK Goteborg midfielder has attracted scouts from Manchester United, Roma, Freiburg, Leicester City and Watford. Mansson welcomed the attention but insisted his immediate focus remained on his performances for the Swedish club.
“It’s really fun that these clubs are here. If they come to watch me, it means I’m doing things right. But I’m focused on the present,” he said. Despite the growing interest, Barcelona have reportedly not sent scouts to monitor the youngster, meaning a potential move to the Catalan club remains uncertain.
However, Mansson has made his preference clear, saying: “For me, it’s always been Barça.” The midfielder joined IFK Goteborg’s first team in March 2026 and is contracted until 2028.
The club reportedly believes a future transfer could exceed the €9 million Brighton paid for Malick Yalcouye in 2024, although no formal offers have been reported.
