Peter Obi will end stories of snakes swallowing public funds — Utomi
Political economist Pat Utomi has argued that Nigerians aged 70 and above should not occupy the presidency, citing concerns about medical tourism and public expenditure.
According to Daily Post, Utomi made the remarks in a post on X, questioning the suitability of elderly presidential candidates. Utomi
“Men who are 70 and above have no business holding the most important seat in Nigeria which is the presidency,” he wrote.
Utomi argued that Nigeria could save resources spent on foreign medical trips by electing younger leaders.
He also expressed confidence that Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi would tackle corruption if elected in 2027.
“When Peter Obi wins, funny stories about snakes swallowing billions of naira in public funds in government offices will become a thing of the past,” he said.
Utomi maintained that Obi would strengthen accountability and ensure public officials faced consequences for financial misconduct.
His remarks reflect his preference for younger presidential leadership.
