Dominik Szoboszlai has agreed with Andoni Iraola’s assessment that Liverpool may need to go to ground to win penalties following the controversial decision against Arsenal.

The Hungarian midfielder was frustrated after referee Andy Madley and VAR officials failed to award Liverpool a penalty despite Jurrien Timber pulling Alexander Isak’s shirt during Sunday’s Premier League encounter.

“It’s a penalty — I don’t know what they expect from us: to dive or something,” Szoboszlai told reporters at Anfield.

“I don’t think we are the type of team or players to do that but from now on we might need to do it.”

According to Liverpool.com, Szoboszlai also argued that Isak would have had a clear opportunity to score had Timber not pulled him back. The midfielder suggested the decision could have changed the outcome, insisting Liverpool would have been difficult to stop had they taken an early lead.
