MTN Nigeria has warned subscribers against fraudulent messages promising access to the Federal Government’s N50,000 monthly relief programme.

According to PUNCH, eligible users can verify their status through MoMo Payment Service Bank by dialling 6710#, following instructions under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The warning followed social media claims that subscribers marked “NOT ELIGIBLE” could receive payment within 24 hours by texting “YES” to an unofficial code.

MTN Support stated:

“Please be informed that the information shared is not from MTN. Kindly disregard the message and do not click on any unverified links, share personal information, OTPs, PINs, passwords, or make any payments based on such messages.”

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs says beneficiaries are selected from verified identity records and the National Social Register.

Approved payment providers include MoMo PSB, ALAT, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint.

Only selected beneficiaries receive payment notifications, and participation requires no application fees or payments to intermediaries.
