Rivers crisis: Tinubu assures Fubara he will not regret his decision
President Bola Tinubu has assured Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he will not regret respecting his intervention in the state’s political crisis, Sahara Reporters reports. Tinubu spoke on Saturday at a rally in Port Harcourt, where he commended Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for maintaining peace. “When we intervened, you respected our position. You maintained peace. You are a committed democrat,” Tinubu told Fubara. “Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” he declared.
The president also praised Wike. “Nyesom Wike is already a development partner of the Bola Tinubu administration. He is doing a wonderful job, committed, very hardworking,” Tinubu said. The crisis was a prolonged power struggle between Fubara and Wike, who governed Rivers State from 2015 to 2023 and was later appointed FCT Minister by Tinubu. Sahara Reporters said it centred on political control of the state, and Tinubu suspended the governor from office during it.
