An eight-goal epic at Old Trafford ended in a 4-4 stalemate between Manchester United and Aston Villa, leaving Michael Carrick’s side with just a single victory from their last 10 Premier League fixtures.

Despite fighting back from two separate two-goal deficits, defensive errors continues to plague United’s season.Villa surged into a rapid 2-0 lead through Alysson and Nicolas Jackson, representing the earliest two-goal deficit United have ever conceded in Premier League history.

The hosts responded before the interval when Matheus Cunha drew a penalty that Bruno Fernandes converted, followed by Youri Tielemans leveling against his former club.

The second half mirrored the first, as Villa restored their two-goal cushion via a John McGinn spot-kick, awarded after Diogo Dalot’s foul, and a tap-in from Leon Goretzka following Leny Yoro’s mistake.

However, United mounted another late rescue mission as substitute Joshua Zirkzee pulled one back before Patrick Dorgu headed home a dramatic late equalizer.
