DNA row erupts over Gbenga Adeboye’s three children 23 years after his death
The family of late Nigerian comedian Gbenga Adeboye has demanded DNA tests on his widow’s three children, 23 years after his death, P.M. News reports. His sister, Sayo Adeboye, alleged on Baba Olomi TV that he disclosed on his sickbed that Igwe was his only biological son. The claim has not been substantiated by DNA evidence. “Lara, go and repent. Jesus is coming soon. We need DNA tests; we need to know the real biological child,” she said.
The dispute followed accusations by the widow, Omolara, on the Kasnaty Show that his relatives abandoned her and interfered with his property. Igwe defended his mother. “My mum was depressed after our dad’s death,” he said. Seun, another sister, alleged that valuables were removed from Adeboye’s home while relatives were at the hospital. Omolara denied rumours that she remarried, saying she remained unmarried. Adeboye, known as Funwontan, died on April 30, 2003, aged 43, following an illness reportedly linked to kidney disease.
