Academic who accused late professor Arday of plagiarism suspended by Belgian University
Belgium’s Ghent University has suspended Nathan Cofnas, the U.S. academic who accused late Cambridge professor Jason Arday of plagiarism, and launched an investigation into whether he discriminated against Arday. Cofnas disclosed the suspension on X on Thursday, saying he would “almost certainly” be fired.
According to Peoples Gazette, the university’s rector, Petra de Sutter, said it stands against discrimination and hatred while affirming academic freedom “is not unlimited.”
Arday was found dead at his UK home days after resigning from Cambridge, citing unbearable backlash from the allegations, which he had denied.
