Achraf Hakimi to stand trial for rape after French Court rejects final appeal

Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi will stand trial for rape after France’s highest court rejected his final appeal on Wednesday. According to The Athletic, the Court of Cassation dismissed Hakimi’s challenge, exhausting his legal avenues to have the case dropped.

The 27-year-old has consistently denied the allegation relating to an incident at his home in February 2023. A criminal court in France’s Hauts-de-Seine department will hear the case, potentially next year. Hakimi’s lawyer said the allegations were not examined by the Court of Cassation and would be addressed at trial, where the defender’s evidence will be presented.
