Active-duty soldier’s wife deported amid Trump immigration crackdown

The wife of an active-duty Army sergeant was deported to Honduras on Monday, according to a report by ABC News. Cristy Maryori Villafranca Trejo, married to Sgt. Hedar Leonel Turcios Juarez, was detained by ICE outside a Walmart in July as their six-year-old daughter watched.

DHS confirmed the removal, stating she entered the US illegally in 2016. Turcios, a naturalized citizen who deployed to the Middle East, said his wife posed no threat. The case is among more than 50 involving military spouses and parents swept up in Trump’s deportation campaign, with advocates saying families are “living in the shadows.”
