Adebayo: I’ll install solar panels on every roof within 11 months of my presidency

Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has promised to install between 11kW and 15kW of solar power on every Nigerian roof within 11 months if elected president in 2027.

Adebayo made the pledge during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday,as reported by Daily Post, criticising Nigeria’s reliance on costly grid expansion for rural electrification.

He advocated decentralised solar solutions, local manufacturing of panels and community-based training of installers. Adebayo said the government could leverage funds allocated to local governments to finance the initiative, arguing that domestic solar production would provide a cheaper and more sustainable alternative to conventional electrification projects.
