Adeleke ally ‘Emir Ajagungbade’ gunned down in Ife park dispute
Comrade Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, has reportedly been shot dead at Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife, Osun State, according to Sahara Reporters
Oyeyemi, a known associate of Governor Ademola Adeleke and a member of the Accord Party, was allegedly shot during a dispute over control of the motor park garage, with the incident reportedly involving Comrade Nurudeen Alowonle and the chairman of Ife Mini-Bus, known as Sibi.
Details of the shooting, including the identity of the alleged shooter, remained unclear at the time of filing.
Oyeyemi had served on Adeleke’s inauguration transition committee and was previously linked to former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, but had also faced serious legal controversies, having been declared wanted in 2022 over allegations of murder, cultism and armed robbery before his 2024 arraignment on terrorism-related charges.
He was granted bail by the court in April 2024, but he remained active around political and transport-related activities in the state despite the pending charges.
His reported killing comes amid longstanding tensions and disputes over control of motor parks and transport unions in parts of Osun State, with Sahara Reporters noting it could not independently verify the circumstances of the shooting at the time of filing.
The incident nonetheless raises fresh concerns over the volatile mix of politics, transport unionism and unresolved criminal allegations that continues to trail public figures in the state.
