AFC chief Shaikh Salman joins calls for FIFA to release $10m to every member

AFC president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has joined calls for FIFA to release $10 million to each of its 211 member associations. According to Inside World Football, Salman wants FIFA’s Council to review its reserves at its October 15 meeting in Zurich.

The proposed distribution would cost FIFA $2.1 billion from its reported $6 billion cash reserves. Salman follows UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and Concacaf president Victor Montagliani in backing the proposal, arguing that FIFA’s financial success should benefit its member associations and football development worldwide.
