After 10 years in power, stop blaming PDP for Nigeria’s problems — Wike-backed faction tells Tinubu
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised President Bola Tinubu for blaming Nigeria’s economic hardship on opposition parties.
According to Daily Trust, the faction reacted Monday to Tinubu’s remarks during Saturday’s APC presidential campaign launch in Kaduna.
PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Haruna Mohammed rejected the allegation, insisting that the ruling party must accept responsibility for current economic conditions.
“We firmly reject any attempt to use the PDP’s sixteen years in government as a blanket justification for the shortcomings of the present administration.”
The faction urged the APC to prioritise affordable food, job creation, improved security, electricity and reduced transportation costs.
“Every administration must be judged by its policies, decisions, achievements, and, most importantly, the living conditions of the people it governs,” the statement said.
The PDP maintained that Nigerians deserved practical solutions rather than continued political blame.
It demanded accountability and concrete measures to address hardship.
